The James Cafe · Strip District
The James Cafe at 2550 Smallman Street says it will close its Strip District location as of November 1, “as we prepare for our next chapter in Pittsburgh’s Golden Triangle.” No Downtown address or opening date has been posted yet.
Redhawk · Pittsburgh
Two single origins worth a look on Redhawk’s coffee shelf: Brazil São Paulo Fazenda Cachoeira da Grama, added in early October, from $22 for 12 oz, and Guatemala San Lucas Toliman, back after leaving the lineup in September, from $24 for 12 oz. Both were listed and available in 12 oz bags when we looked today.
Filter Night Lights · Wednesday Oct 21 (past)
Eventbrite showed “Sales ended” for Filter Night Lights on the morning of the event (checked Oct 21 at 8:04am EDT). The official Coffee Week listing gave 5:30pm at Wallace’s Whiskey Room + Kitchen, Hotel Indigo East Liberty, 123 North Highland Avenue, with free attendance and tickets/registration required for participants. Eventbrite listed a 9pm end and Coffee Week listed 9:30pm.
La Prima · Tuesday Oct 20
The registration form linked by Pittsburgh Coffee Week said the Coffee and Whiskey Pairing with La Prima Espresso Co. was fully booked (checked Oct 20). The official event list gave Tuesday Oct 20, 6–8pm, at Torrefazione La Prima, 1500 Chateau Street. The event has passed.
Pittsburgh area · Oct 16–18
The October 17–18 events below are now past (updated Oct 19). The listed Coffee Week opening events included blend-making in Shadyside and an origin tasting in Wexford.
Pittsburgh Coffee Week ran Oct 18–24. Its official event list included these opening-day events:
Virtual Latte Art Throwdown public voting was scheduled for Oct 16–23. The checked organizer’s page still linked the entry form, and we never confirmed a public ballot. The winner announcement date was never confirmed either, because the organizer’s page and linked form disagreed.
The official drink-specials page still said “Check back” when we looked. Coffee Week drink specials have ended.

Pitt’s Big Idea Center confirms Delanie’s Coffee is open at 3601 Forbes Avenue in Oakland. Pitt directs visitors to @delaniescoffee and @pittbigidea for current hours; no café hours are confirmed here.
Monroeville · Sat Oct 17
Everest Events Group’s Eventbrite listing now marks the Saturday Oct 17, 2026 festival “Event ended” (checked Oct 18). The listed venue was Monroeville Convention and Events Center, 209 Mall Plaza Boulevard, Monroeville. The listed general-admission sessions were 11am–1:30pm and 3:30–6pm, with VIP starts at 10am and 2:30pm.
Pittsburgh Coffee Week · Oct 18–24 (past)
Pittsburgh Coffee Week ran Oct 18–24, 2026. The Virtual Latte Art Throwdown’s Oct 11 submission deadline passed, no extension was confirmed, and public voting was scheduled for Oct 16–23. The winner announcement date was never confirmed: the organizer’s page listed Oct 26, while its linked 2026 form listed Oct 24.

Compass Point Coffee’s site says a spot is coming soon at 301 Grant Street in Millvale. No opening date or hours yet. Its Evergreen Avenue cafe is listed with current hours.

Arriviste Coffee Roasters, in Shadyside for nearly a decade, closed in April, TribLive reported. The shop’s website is no longer up, so we’ve taken Arriviste off our Shadyside list.

Commonplace’s online shop lists Ratnagiri Estate • India, an anaerobic washed Catuaí from Ashok and Divya Patre’s farm, at $23.25 for 10oz. 2lb and 5lb bags are listed too.

La Prima’s coffee collection lists Kenya Kirinyaga at $26.25 for a 1 lb bag. It’s a Medium roast with notes of mango, blackcurrant and champagne; whole bean and grind options are available.
Azal Coffee · Squirrel Hill
The Allegheny County Health Department ordered Azal Coffee at 2100 Murray Ave in Squirrel Hill closed after a Friday inspection. Patch and KDKA report the shop was operating without a valid permit and failed to request a pre-opening inspection. No reopen date is posted.
Dynamic · Larimer
Dynamic Coffee says a third Pittsburgh café is coming soon to 6600 Hamilton Ave — the former KLVN Coffee Lab space. Highline and La Galería are open now; no open date or hours yet for Hamilton.
Starbucks · Bloomfield
The Starbucks at 4765 Liberty Ave in Bloomfield has permanently closed. We checked on site Monday — the store is shut for good.
Shoresh · Greenfield
Shoresh is renovating the former First National Bank at 4300 Murray Ave into a community coffee shop and Jewish learning space. The shop’s site says the coffee shop hopes to open soon; TribLive reports a target of early 2027. Classes are already happening in the building while renovations continue.
KLVN · Larimer
KLVN Coffee Lab’s café at 6600 Hamilton Ave has closed. The shop’s Instagram lists Sept. 17 as its last day of service, and Pittsburgh City Paper reported the closure. It’s not clear yet whether KLVN’s wholesale roasting will continue.
Starbucks · Bloomfield
The Starbucks at 4765 Liberty Ave in Bloomfield was set to close the week of Sep 25. A letter in the store window said it would close by the end of that week, TribLive reported. It has since closed (see the Sep 28 update).
De Fer · Pittsburgh
De Fer’s shop lists Kinini Village again — a light/medium roast from Rwanda, from $10 for a 4 oz bag. De Fer calls it a cooler-weather favorite, with notes of hazelnut, maple syrup, and blood orange.

Dynamic · Penn Avenue
Dynamic’s homepage announcement says: “Second Location Now Open at 6101 Penn Ave, 15206.” Its FAQs describe the Carnegie warehouse roast and a coffee shop at The Highline. Penn Ave hours aren’t on the announcement we checked.
